Donetsk, Jun 1 – DAN. DPR Head Denis Pushilin has announced the Victory Day parade will be held in Donetsk on June 24.

This year sees the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.

“The Military Parade will traditionally go down the city’s main street on June 24. It will be bigger that the last year’s one: 2.5 thousand people and more than a hundred equipment pieces will participate,” Pushilin said in a Telegram publication.

He has personally inspected the military equipment and its preparedness for the parade as well as a number of units to estimate their readiness and materiel support.

“Was satisfied with what I saw,” Pushilin commented.

Traditionally, the Parade is held on May 9, but this year it has been postponed until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.

The pandemic has also affected plans on the celebration of the Republic’s Establishment Day on May 11. All the events have been postponed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced earlier that Russia is going to hold the Victory Day Parade on June 24.

On March 14, the DPR went on high alert in connection with the threat of the coronavirus infection spread.

DRR has imposed a number of restriction on public events, restaurants and educational institutions. Individuals are subject to fines of 30-60 thousand rubles, while officials have to pay 40-80 thousand rubles if they violate the measures. Individual entrepreneurs risk 80-100 thousand rubles. The fine shall be doubled for second-time offenders. *ot
